 The 3rd Athens International Digital Film Festival has now announced its dates in September 1st -10th 2013. This year, the festival will host feature films, documentaries, video art, animation, experimental films, all competing in different categories. With over 250 films from 35 countries entering the film competition and around 150 screenings included in the program, the festival will also host visual artists. Amongst them Alexandra Perri ,who is using both traditional and progressive media to support her art in collaboration with the festival director Christos N. Karakasis . Many important organizations associations will support the festival this year including the Organization for Culture, Youth and Sports of the Municipality of Athens, which will offer the festival high quality screening venues in the heart of Athens.                                               ‘Beer & Art’: A Visual Theme by Fix Hellas

66 international artists created works of art thinking about beer. The show was held by curator Angela Dikeoulia in the beer factory FIX Hellas. In November 2012 there was a different turning point in Greece considering arts: a visual show which was held in the actual factory of Fix Hellas. The company supports artists to create works about euphoria, fluidity and consummation of beer. Amongst the artists, Alexandra Perri, who thinks about beer. Her work is about little bottles of beer.  Beer can be dark or blonde and it is made of barley, wheat, all organic ingredients. Bottle is a symbol of the different preparations of beer. Preparations in a sense of a total sentiment of ‘being’ in a bottle. Fix Hellas factory is a huge place which intrigues fantasy in a space consisting large vessels. The contradiction between little bottles and large vessels can be a metaphor about memory. How can memory be squeezed in a bottle and how can those bottles be placed in a vast space provokes the viewer to imagine a new ‘geography’. Greece becomes the centre of Europe as artists move in reversed time: the geographical midpoint of Greece becomes bigger.

Μίλησε μας για το πως ξεκίνησε η σχέση σου με τη ζωγραφική;
Σε παιδική ηλικία μου άρεσε να περιγράφω, αρχικά με λέξεις, καταστάσεις που μου προκαλούσαν συναισθήματα ευφορίας. Μετά ανακάλυψα τα χρώματα που τα ίδια μου προκαλούσαν ευχάριστα συναισθήματα, ήταν σαν παιχνίδι. 

Ποιοι παράγοντες θεωρείς ότι διαμορφώνουν την αισθητική ενός ανθρώπου;
Η ελευθερία. Ο άνθρωπος από νεαρή ηλικία θα πρέπει να αφήνεται στις επιλογές αυτές που ο ίδιος θεωρεί ότι θα τον επηρεάσουν θετικά. Η αισθητική διαμορφώνεται παράλληλα με την ελευθερία σκέψης και έκφρασης.

Περιέγραψέ μας τη διαδικασία από τη γέννηση μιας ιδέας έως τη μορφοποίησή της σε ζωγραφικό πίνακα.
Η γέννηση μιας ιδέας έρχεται αυθόρμητα και αβίαστα. Σε απόλυτη αρμονία με την προσωπική μου ζωή, η ιδέα πλάθεται και δουλεύεται όπως όταν κάποιος σχεδιάζει την ημέρα του.

Έχεις την τάση ως καλλιτέχνης να αμφισβητήσεις του κανόνες για να κάνεις την δική σου καλλιτεχνική υπέρβαση;
Αμφισβητώ όλους τους κανόνες. Τον καθωσπρεπισμό, θρησκευτικούς και κοινωνικούς κανόνες και τους ίδιους τους κανόνες ζωγραφικής. Θεωρώ ότι ο καλλιτέχνης πρέπει να ζει έντονα, η τέχνη να ξεκινάει απ' την σκέψη, να περνάει από την επιφάνεια του καμβά και μετά να ξεπερνάει και αυτή.

Υπάρχουν κάποιοι συγκεκριμένοι ζωγράφοι οι οποίοι σε επηρέασαν στη διαμόρφωση του προσωπικού σου στυλ;
Ο σκηνοθέτης Θ. Αγγελόπουλος, η εικαστικός Μαρίνα Αbramovich, η ποιήτρια Anne Carson και άλλοι με έχουν επηρεάσει και κυρίως η "μη συμβατή" ματιά τους στο χρόνο.

Ποια είναι τα μηνύματα που θέλεις να περάσεις με τα έργα σου στο κόσμο και ποια συναισθήματα θέλεις να προκαλέσεις;

Το μήνυμα είναι ότι "όλα είναι δυνατά". Αν υποθετικά δεχτούμε το λανθασμένο ότι <<όλα γίνονται για ένα λόγο>> τότε ο άνθρωπος δεν πρέπει να αποδεχθεί τίποτα από όλα αυτά. Πρέπει να βρει τους λόγους που θα τον οδηγήσουν σε πράξεις. Ο λόγος προηγείται της πράξης.

Δεδομένου της σκληρής σημερινής πραγματικότητας πιστεύεις ότι η τέχνη σήμερα μπορεί να γίνει αξιόπιστη;
Η τέχνη δεν είναι αξιόπιστη, είναι εγωκεντρική. Ο καλλιτέχνης δεν υπηρετεί την τέχνη ούτε το σύστημα αλλά τον εαυτό του. Οπότε πρέπει να υπερβούμε τις καταστάσεις.

Η Κρήτη για σένα τι είναι ως τόπος καταγωγής, έμπνευση, δημιουργία η απλώς νοσταλγία. Θα μπορούσες να επιστρέψεις ξανά;
Στην Κρήτη έρχομαι πάρα πολύ συχνά για να δώ τους φίλους μου και τους ανθρώπους που με εμπνέουν.

Το Ηράκλειο είναι μια πρόσφορη πόλη για μια νέα εικαστικό που θέλει να ανοίξει τα φτερά της;
Ναι είναι. Υπάρχουν εκθέσεις και καλλιτεχνικά δρώμενα που είναι ενδιαφέροντα και επίσης το Ηράκλειο είναι μια πόλη συνέχεια σε κίνηση.

Τα τελευταία χρόνια στην πόλη μας γίνονται αρκετές προσπάθειες στο χώρο των πολιτισμού, τις οποίες ο κόσμος αγκαλιάζει. Τι πιστεύεις ότι χρειάζεται ακόμα;
Χρειάζονται ακόμα περισσότεροι πολυχώροι τέχνης.

Έργα σου είχαν φιλοξενηθεί στην έκθεση «Ψηφιακή πραγματικότητα» στο πλαίσια του 2ου Φεστιβάλ Ψηφιακού Κινηματογράφου. Μίλησε μας για αυτή.
Στην έκθεση Ψηφιακή Πραγματικότητα ασχολήθηκα με την καρδιά σαν ζωτικό όργανο αλλά και σαν όργανο σύμβολο. Η καρδιά στο έργο συνυπάρχει με άλλα σύμβολα του γυναικείου και ανδρικού φύλλου που συνδυάζονται μεταξύ τους μέσω του βασικού χρώματος στο οποίο αποδίδεται το ερωτικό συναίσθημα: το κόκκινο.

Ποια είναι τα καλλιτεχνικά σχέδιά σου για το μέλλον;

Alexandra Perri completed a series of painting installations in the visual show ‘Digital Reality’ in the Forum of the 2^ο Digital  Short Film Festival in Athens. The Visual Show was hosted in several coctail bar and pubs in Athens such as Hoxton, Nixon, Kanji, Tailor made and Magaze. The show approached a digital development of civilization which springs radically and infects the whole sphere of human action. Reality brings the artist into a term of believing in a ‘digital fantasy’.  In her work, Alexandra Perri, mixes objects and organs from human anatomy. The body is a fragment or can be a part of a whole, but in either case it is connected with a vital organ which the cause of the erotic sentiment: the heart. Color can be a contemporary condition to reproduce the body as part of nature.  Reality is blue, red or yellow and transforms digital context into basic sentiment. Alexandra Perri's project was hosted in Kanji. Public places, in the center of Athens, allow a dialogue between randomness and digital fantasy. The project opens up to public criticism instead of  'indoor' Art Criticism.
